Adam "Lyle" Grondin, 97 September 4, 1917 - October 17, 2014 Preceded in death by parents, Daniel and Eva Grondin; wife, Florence (Scott) Grondin; siblings, Nellie, Arthur, Paul, Sterling, Ivan (Pete), Kenneth, Oliver, and son, Danny. Survived by brother, Richard (Keith), and sons, Lyle (Len), Jim, and Don (Duke). Lyle graduated from Dryden High School, Dryden, MI in 1935 before joining the Army to serve in Panama during WWII. He married Florence Scott of Birmingham, MI in November, 1940. He worked as a supervisor with Leonard Elevator Company in Leonard, MI and as a skilled tradesman for over 25 years with Twist Drill Tool Company of Rochester, MI. He and his wife, Florence, reared 4 children, who blessed them with 9 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. Lyle enjoyed building and remodeling homes. He could turn a summer "cottage" into a cozy, year-round home, or convert a gutted, turn-of -the century school house into an inviting, 2-story family residence, with a 2-car garage. Lyle enjoyed traveling with his family and playing cards with his brothers. He was a modest and unassuming, and an avid reader. In earlier years, his grandchildren liked to climb up onto his lap to hear him read stories. He was loved by all and will be greatly missed. A memorial mass for Lyle will be held on November 12, 2014 at 11:00 am at Saint Cornelius Catholic Church in Dryden, MI. Immediately following the service, a reception will be held at the Dryden Vets Hall.
