Barbara Ann Tatum(Tabor-Lindsey) was born on 3/28/34 in Hillsboro, Texas. She was the 3rd. of 6 children born to Tony and Lois Tatum. She helped her Mom take care of her 3 younger brothers, Charles, Clark and Tony. Living during the Depression was hard, and probably led her to leave school early and marry at the age of 14. She married Bill Tabor on Dec. 22, 1948. In 1949, while living in Bullhead City, Arizona, where Bill and his brother Rex were working on Davis Dam, Barbara had her 1st. child, Gregory Joel. It was in Arizona that an older neighbor lady taught her how to crochet and Mom would eventually make everyone in the family gorgeous afghans and baby blankets. The family moved back to Ontario, Ca and in 1951 had their 2nd. child, Gwendolyn Janice. They lived in So. Calif. til 1958, then, to get out of the smog and follow her parents, they moved to Roseville, Calif. Bill worked in the painting business and Barbara was able to be a stay-at-home Mom. In 1965, Barbara began working at Rosco Tempo in Orangevale in order to help pay for her sons' college education. Rosco Tempo became Raleys and she continued to work for them for about 25 yrs.,retiring from the Cosmetics Dept. in Placerville, CA. In 1967, the family left the Sac. area and moved to Shingle Springs. Mom didn't like the idea of leaving the only new house she had ever lived in, but soon grew to love the foothills. Mom and Dad divorced in 1976. Their daughter, Gwen, and her family stayed living in Shingle Springs, and have done so for over 44 yrs. Mom was a Breast Cancer survivor. Life changed so much for the better when Barb met Ken Gustafson around 1987.The magic words were "do you like to travel?"....and they began a wonderful life together, traveling around the world to exotic places. They went on over 40 cruises, and had just returned from about their 12th. Hawaiian cruise when she became ill. Barbs' family of 2 children, 4 grandchildren , 11 great grandchildren and 2 more due this summer, and including Ken's children, Cindy, Dave and Bev and their 5 grandchildren, all were very lucky to have Ken and Barb in their lives. A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
