Bertha Francis Shuey

Mom was born in 1932 in Joplin, MO. She moved to Redondo Beach, California at the age of two. She and her siblings were raised by her Mother, Freddie Perry on Helberta Street. The family did not have much and worked very hard for what they did have. This instilled a great family value in Mom which she never lost. Family was everything to her. She married my Dad Ed in 1956 and were happily married for 44 years. My Dad was a wonderful man. Most of their married life was spent in California with the exception of Dad's military time in the Navy and Airforce and 10 years in Illinois 1990 - 2000. Mom loved the babies. She only had two kids of her own, me - Chuck and my sister Susan. My wife Debbie & I gave her 4 grand-daughters and 8 great-grandchildren and my sister Susan and Alan gave her a grandson Cody. Mom worked most of her life for Hughes Aircraft as an Electronics Inspector in addition to raising a family. Both she and Dad retired in 1988 and relocated from Redondo to Placerville, CA. where we lived. They later moved back home to Illinois where my Dad was born. My Dad passed away in July 2000. Debbie & I moved Mom back to California where she shared her time between our family and Suzy's. She spent her final years with us in Pollock Pines, CA. where she was an active, loving member of the family, always happy to see her "grand-babies" and "great-grand-babies". She is loved and will be dearly missed by all of her family. I love you Mom - Chuck Shuey
