Bob G. (B.G.Eslick) Eslick Obituary (1928

Placerville, California - Bob Gene Eslick, 87, passed peacefully into the presence of his Savior and Lord on Thursday, March 31, 2016, at the Western Slopes Health Center in Placerville, California. His smile and humor will be missed. He leaves his wife, Geraldine of 66 years, the love of his life, and his daughters; Kathleen Waffle (George), Mary Moore (Dale), Joan Stubbs (Richard), and Melissa Murphey (Robert), his sons; Russell (Debbie) and Ralph (Toni), his brothers; James and Russell, his sister; Evelyn, 14 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, countless nephews, nieces, and cousins, and many family friends. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Dorene, brothers George and Vernon, sisters, Dorene and Harriot. He was born in Fredonia Kansas, the son of James Edward and Zella Minerva (Russell) Eslick. Bob's family settled in Ivanhoe, California, in 1943; he graduated from Visalia High in 1946. He served in the US Navy from 1946 -1950, where he was a patternmaker on the USS Hector. After attending Sequoia Community College he became patternmaker for Pelton Waterwheel in San Francisco where he made wood patterns for steel casting for dam turbines. In 1963 he joined Carpenters Local 152 in San Mateo and shortly after obtained his General Contractors License. In the following years he was the sole proprietor of B. G. Eslick and Sons, Precision Cabinets both in San Mateo, California, Eslick's Cabinet Shop in Placerville, California, and B.G. Eslick Construction in Escondido, California. Bob was a master craftsman. He enjoyed building homes, remodeling, and making cabinets and furniture. Bob served as a Deacon and then an Elder for the First Presbyterian Church in San Mateo, California, where he and his family attended from 1952 through 1972. He and his family moved to Placerville, California, in 1972 and then to Escondido, California, in 1976, where he worked and lived for 38 years. He was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Escondido for many years. Bob enjoyed model railroading and after retirement filled his entire cabinet shop with model train layouts of all gauges from N to G. He was also an avid gardener and baseball fan. He loved the San Diego Padres, but deep down, he was always a Cardinal fan. As a family man, his greatest joy was watching his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren participate in sports, music, and theater. The Family wishes to thank Western Slopes Health Center for the care and support for Dad and the continued love and care for Geraldine and Debbie. There will be a private burial on Friday, April 8, 2016, and a Celebration of Life at Mother Lode Church in Lotus, California, on Saturday April 9, 2016.
