Charles A. "Chuck" Palmer

–

Rescue, California

Charles A. "Chuck" Palmer went home to be with his Lord and Savior on June 1, 2024 at the age of 83. Chuck was born in Hanford, CA on April 25, 1941. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Dottie of 51 years and step daughter Karen Kahan. He is survived by his son Charlie. Chuck was the proud papa to Kaden and Faith and step grandpa to David, Jodi, and Keith. He was also blessed to be a step great grandpa and great great grandpa.

After growing up in the Hanford area, Chuck lived in Bakersfield during high school and graduated from East Bakersfield High School in 1959. Following high school, Chuck became actively involved in Bonneville Salt Flats land speed racing as well as the drag race scene of Southern California. At one point, Chuck built and drove a car that briefly held a land speed record for its class at Bonneville. In 1966, Chuck was drafted to serve in Vietnam where he completed two tours of duty. During that time, Chuck earned multiple medals, including the Combat Infantryman Badge, Bronze Star, and two Purple Hearts.

Upon returning home from the war, Chuck settled in Southern California where he met the love of his life Dottie, and also began his career in the cast metals industry. Chuck spent over 40 years in that industry, working his way to becoming the manager of several foundries including Camsco, Rain-Bird, and James Jones. From 1997-99, Chuck served as the president of the California Cast Metals Association. In 2007, Chuck was awarded CCMA's highest award, the Erwin G. Tetzlaff Memorial Award for his lifetime of accomplishments in the industry.

After many years in Southern California, Chuck and Dottie relocated to El Dorado Hills to be closer to their son and grandchildren. Chuck spent the latter years of his life enjoying fly-fishing, time with his son and grandchildren, as well as the company of his wonderful friends and neighbors who he loved dearly. Chuck also came to know the Lord and loved attending District Church. He was baptized at the age of 82, undoubtedly inspiring many that it is never too late to build a relationship with the Lord.

Chuck will be deeply missed and will always be remembered for his disciplined and strong work ethic, love and commitment to his family, and the incredible example he set as a man for all who knew him. Services with full military honors for Chuck will be held at Green Valley Mortuary in Rescue, CA on June 14th at 2:30pm.
