Crystal Burns

On December 28, 2023, peacefully, the angels carried Crystal Anne Burns away as she was awakened to eternal life in her home in Cameron Park, California, after a fearless battle with cancer. Crystal was 39 years old.

Crystal leaves behind the love of her life, husband, Steven Burns. Her two children, Lila Burns (5) and Grant Burns (2), her mother Cindy Cheney, her father Peter Cheney, her sister Brandy Wobschall, her nieces and nephews, Teya Tanaka, Morgan Spoto, Macie Spoto, MJ Spoto, Sydney Sackmann, Tristin Sackmann, Bennett Sackmann and countless other cherished family and friends.

Crystal also leaves behind a legacy of generosity, kindness and compassion with a smile that would light up the darkest night.

Crystal was an English Major and received her master’s degree at the University of California, Davis in 2006. She was an avid reader and writer thus producing the most articulate 2- and 5-year-old children you will ever know. Her genuine love and compassion for others and her eloquent speaking and writing ability made her the perfect fit as the Community Relations and Development Director for CASA of Sacramento, to which she spent 9 years dedicating her life.

Crystal was selected as an honoree of the Sacramento Business Journal’s 40 Under 40. Her commitment to CASA and the youth they support was recognized on November 16, 2023.

Crystal’s biggest accomplishment are her two children, Lila and Grant. She took pride in her family and loved being a wife to Steven and a mom to the kids. Her love for her family was boundless and there is no doubt she will continue to watch over them as the years pass.

Please join us for services on January 5, 2024, at 10:00am at The Table UMC (5265 H Street, Sacramento) to celebrate this beautiful life. A reception will follow at the Folsom Community Center (52 Natoma Street, Folsom) at 12:00pm. Please come and share your stories of this incredible woman, wife, mother, sister, daughter, and friend.
