Darren John Kascht was born on February 17, 1968 and passed away on October 22, 2023. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, his mother Mary Kascht and his mother and father in law, Maria Jose and Zacarias Sa. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Fatima and their son Kameron, his father, John Kascht, sisters Kim, Kris and Katie (Rob), brother Dale (Patti), sister in law Helena (Mike), brother in law Zac (Stacey), several nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Darren was born to John and Mary Kascht and raised along with his siblings among the lakes and farm fields of Richmond, MN, a place and people that remained precious to him – Go Vikings always! – and whom will always remember the shenanigans of the Kascht clan. Just as he was entering high school, the family moved to Madera, CA in 1982 where Darren brought his love of sports and exuberance for life to San Joaquin Memorial High School in Fresno, CA. After high school Darren moved to San Jose where he met the love of his life, the incomparable Fatima, who he stood in amazement of how “she stands steadfast and unafraid in situations that often shake me to my core. She is kind beyond words, and compassionate beyond belief. I am truly honored to call her my wife”. During their 30 years of marriage they built a community of friends that defines chosen family, shows up for all things big and small and has covered the globe together. He was forever adopting new hobbies, expanding his knowledge of the world, nailing it at karaoke and hunting for every last golf ball lost on the course. Adventures were abundant, but they were just getting started. Darren really stepped into what he was made for when their son, Kameron Kascht, entered this world. Day in and day out, Darren was a truly epic father! A master coach, a constant support, a companion in mischief and steadfast advisor, Darren and Kameron were always in lock step. To his last day, he lived to watch Kameron shine and was proudest in his glow.
Of all men, Darren John Kascht is not one whose kindness, light and presence is easily summed up. He was a man that lived well beyond the confines of words alone. His joy, grit and determination to live well was unflappable. Never more evident than in his fight for life over the last 3 years, he welcomed every new day as another chance to live big! He was consistently the man to reach out to others, share a kind word, do the right thing, embrace a new adventure, bust out in song, always land the joke, and celebrate all the special small moments life brought. Since his first day, he lit up a room well before he arrived and left a room with memories to cherish always. As he left all of us peacefully on October 22, 2023, we all remain knowing that it was us, the ones who got to know him and love him, that were truly the lucky ones.
Darren will go down in history as the one to emulate, to learn from and to live more like. He will reside in the most joyful parts of us and his wisdom and encouragement will continue to echo on…Have the conversation, always show up, go out of your way to be kind, sing at the top of your lungs, have the party, say the truth (even if it’s hard to hear) and have a ton of fun along the way.
