Elizabeth Ann Cody Marsh\n94 years\nFormer Resident of San Jose, California\nElizabeth Ann (Bette) Cody Marsh was born on Feb.12,\n1929 in San Jose, California to Mervyn Joseph Cody and\nGeneva Frances Stock Cody. She passed away in Folsom,\nCalifornia on May 4, 2023 at the age of 94. After losing\nher father at the age of three, Bette and her brothers Jack\nand Bob were lovingly raised by their mother Geneva\nand grandmother Elizabeth Stock on South Thirteenth St.\nin San Jose. Bette attended St. Patrick’s Grammar School\nand Notre Dame High School where she developed\nstrong friendships that lasted a lifetime. Upon graduating\nfrom high school, Bette enrolled at San Jose State where\nshe joined the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. During this\ntime, she began to model and continued to model well\ninto her late 80’s.\nWhile at San Jose State Bette met Elroy Shank. They\nmarried in 1950 and settled in Willow Glen. They had\nfive children: Cindy, Randy, Lindsey, Jeff, and Julie. In\n1964 Bette began working in the Registrar’s office at San\nJose State, a job she enjoyed for over 20 years. She\nmoved on to Amdahl Corporation and upon retiring from\nAmdahl, Bette worked part time as a travel consultant.\nBette married Jack Marsh in 1975 and they purchased a\nhome in the Almaden Valley, where they lived for many\nhappy years until Jack’s passing in 2013. They had wonderful trips\n to Europe, Canada, Hawaii, and the continental United States, \noften with Bette’s brother Bob and his wife Gretchen. \nWith their beloved dog Delphine, they\njoined the Almaden K-9 crew, making wonderful friends.\nBette moved to Oakmont of Folsom in 2016 to be nearer\nto her children.\nBette was an active parishioner and choir member at\nHoly Spirit Church in San Jose, played in several bridge\ngroups, volunteered at the Lucille Packard Children’s\nHospital and many other local charities through the\nyears. She helped family and friends in their times of\nneed, especially her mother Geneva by taking her into\nthe family home and seeing her through many health issues.\nShe especially loved time with her beloved family\nas the grandmother of 13 and the great grandmother of\n9. Bette was loved dearly by her family and friends and\nwe will miss her beautiful smile and constant love of her\nfamily.\nBette is survived by her brother Dr. Robert Cody and\nhis wife Gretchen, children Cindy Titchenal (Bob), Randy\nShank (Joann), Jeff Shank (Leslie), Julie Russell (Jeff),\nher 13 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and by\nmany beloved nieces and nephews and their spouses.\nShe is pre-deceased by her loving husband Jack Marsh,\nher daughter Lindsey Shank, her father Mervyn J.
