Ellen Moore Larson, age 86, passed away peacefully in her home in Yuba City, surrounded by family, the early morning of October 29, 2025.
Ellen was born in Easton, Maine to Stanley and Marion (Perrigo) Moore on August 20, 1939. She was the fourth of nine children.
Mom made her choice to serve God, when she was 13, at Woodstock convention. Despite her many ailments Mom always had a song in her heart for her Heavenly Father and her elder brother Jesus. Many times, over all the years, we would often overhear her singing a hymn as she was getting ready for the day. Even in her last year, she made great efforts to share God's love with those in her care facility and she was loved by many of the care staff. She lived her faith and love for things eternal which has been such an encouragement throughout these years and will continue to encourage us even after she's now gone on to her eternal reward.
Mom was fun-loving, smiling and often cracking witty jokes. Her laugh was contagious and you couldn't help but laugh along. She was very sharp-minded and would almost always win, by a long shot, in a game of Scrabble. When asked what she'd like for a Christmas present she'd usually say more Sudoku puzzle books, pocket size. Mom enjoyed playing Rummikub, Farkle, Crazy 8, and in her last year puzzles became her new interest, which she often enjoyed putting together with me, her daughter, Julie.
Mom was a secretary for Royal Typewriter Company in Connecticut. Jean Larson and Mom met in Connecticut and then Mom got a transfer with her job, moved to San Francisco to be Jean's roommate. This later led to Mom meeting my dad, Charles Larson (Jean's father ) and then a year and a half after Charles's first wife passed of cancer, Mom and Dad married in the San Francisco courthouse on July 5th, 1968. They got to enjoy 34 years together and raise their two daughters in Fair Oaks, California. She loved being a stay-at-home mother and wife and after Charles’ retirement in 1981 they got to enjoy many family road-trips across the U.S., with Yellowstone being a highlight. In her later years of life she immensely enjoyed being a Grammie to her 7 grandchildren.
Ellen is survived by her daughter Julie (Ruben) Cruz of Yuba City, California; seven grandchildren Marlissa Cruz, Dakota Clark, Maverick Clark, Alicia (Michel) Schaedler, Cayman Clark, Vanessa Cruz and Ruben Cruz; one great-grandchild Elias Schaedler, all of CA. She is survived by three sisters and one brother; Carol Aliprandi of CT, Gerry (Bingo) DiCentes of ME, Stanley (Sandy) Moore of ME, Marguerite (Joe) Lawler of ME as well as many nephews, nieces and very special friends.
Ellen is preceded in death by her husband Charles and her daughter Carol Clark Vandermyden, her parents, and her four sisters Marilyn, Barbara-Jean, Lily, and Phyllis.
