Emmanuel B. Fajardo, 79, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday July 10, 2016 at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Roseville, California. He was born on March 4, 1937 in General Tinio, Nueva Ecija, Philippines. He was the eldest of 6 children. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Epifania Fajardo; sons, Eric, Emmanuel (Shannon), and Paul; grandsons, Drew, Grant, and Justin; and siblings, Reynaldo, Virgilio, and Violeta. He was predeceased by his parents and his brothers, Ely and Lingkod. Emmanuel attended elementary and high school in General Tinio prior to attending the University of the Philippines, School of Veterinary Medicine. He then became a professor at the University of Eastern Philippines, later becoming the Dean of the School of Veterinary Medicine. In 1968, he moved to the United States, followed by his family in 1970. He went on to have a successful career in the United States Department of Agriculture, Food Inspection, where he worked for 32 years. Emmanuel will be remembered fondly by his family and friends for his love of cooking and gardening. He especially loved roses and was the master of grilling steaks. He actively engaged himself in the activities that his sons and grandsons were involved in. He coached his boys' soccer teams and was a scout leader for the boy scouts. In addition, he was a member of the Beta Sigma Fraternity, the University of the Philippines Alumni Association, and the Northern California Association of Filipino Veterinarians. The viewing will be held from 4:00 - 8:00 PM on Thursday, July 21, 2016 at Green Valley Mortuary in Rescue. Words of remembrance will begin at 6:00 PM. A funeral mass honoring Emmanuel will be at 10:00 AM on Friday, July 22, 2016 at St. Joseph Marello Parish in Granite Bay. Reception will follow at 12:30 PM at Green Valley Mortuary in Rescue.
