Fredie Rubel Montoya was born on December 22, 1946, in Monte Vista, Colorado, and passed away in Folsom, California. He spent his final year surrounded by love, living in El Dorado Hills with his sister and close companion, Mary Martin.
Fredie was the beloved son of Robert and Febie Montoya and brother to Mary Martin and her husband Fred Martin and Abel Montoya. He was a devoted father to Sean and Justin and beamed with pride when he became a great-grandfather to Lorenzo through his granddaughter, Mikayla. He was Uncle Fredie to Ronny, Kat, Blake, Brock, Briggs, Rhonda, Sawyer, Jeff, Rebel, Luke, Bella, Rob, and Nancy. “Uncle Fredie’s” name was spoken with warmth and affection by all who knew him, especially those at the El Dorado Saloon and Grill in El Dorado Hills, where he was a treasured presence.
Fredie’s laugh was unmistakable and infectious, lighting up every room he walked into. His heart was pure gold — generous, loyal, and loving. He had a way with words that might’ve earned a few surprised looks, but his wit and authenticity made him unforgettable. He was a character in the best sense — one of those rare souls who leaves a lasting imprint just by being himself.
He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and the community he brought so much life to. His memory will live on in the stories shared, the laughter remembered, and the love he gave so freely.
