Passed away on October 13, 2010, in Auburn, Calif. He was born on June 26, 1921, in Los Angeles and was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Lucille Mosbacher. He is survived by his children Nancy Woods, Frank Mosbacher, Mary Ghisofo, Michael (Cheryl) Mosbacher, Ken (Carrol) Mosbacher, Loretta (John) Steichen, John (Cindy) Mosbacher, Donald (Shannon) Mosbacher, Peggy (Gary) Wood, Philip (Susan) Mosbacher, Eileen Cleland, Judith (Tod) Pickett, David (Suzette) Mosbacher, Greg (Cheri) Mosbacher, 41 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II and moved his family of nine from Los Angeles to Placerville in 1959. He served in various positions at the Placerville Post Office rising to the ranks of Superintendent of Mails and Assistant Postmaster before retiring in 1978. He also worked nights at various Placerville businesses. He served on the Gold Oak School Board for 25 years and in various positions with the Pleasant Valley Volunteer Fire Department. Howard and his wife Lucille were active members of the St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Placerville. He was also a long standing member of a county schools committee that reviewed opportunities for school unification. Together with Lucille they were honored with the Placerville Family of the Year award. He was well loved by his family and friends as a good man, father, grandfather and great grandfather.
