Irene Elizabeth Gladden

Irene was born in Providence, RI in 1941; being raised by two hard working and amazing parents in a family of five children. She survived her loving parents and two wonderful brothers. Her sisters, whom she loved so much, will miss her dearly. Irene had the distinction of being a single mother in the 60s and 70s, raising two boys, instilling in them (and her grandchildren) a strong ethos of work, fairness, equality, sensibility and being sensitive to others. Never a burden on others, she always did it her way, retiring from State service, living in her own home, and outliving all three spouses. She loved Christmas, children, margaritas and her family; having a generous nature and a gift for treating everyone fairly. Still, we all knew she had a favorite grandchild - they are together again. We are grateful for the life she lived and shared.

Forever in our hearts, we will miss you Mom, Grammy, Auntie and Sister.
