James Silveira

–

Rescue, California

It is with heavy hearts and profound respect that we announce the passing of James Silveira, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, who departed this world peacefully on June 13, 2026, at the age of 75. James, known affectionately as Jim to many, was born on June 22, 1950, in Turlock, California, to the late Manuel and Anita Silveira (Matranga). He left us after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by loved ones.

Jim's life was a testament to service, both in his professional endeavors and personal life. After graduating from John Sweat High School in 1968, Jim answered the call to serve his country by joining the United States Navy, as a Sea Bee, where he served with honor for one and a half years. His commitment to service extended beyond the military as he embarked on a diverse and fulfilling career. From his early days at the Mare Island Naval Shipyard as a skilled carpenter to his role as a building official for the city of Seal Beach and later in El Dorado County, Jim's dedication and expertise left a lasting impact until his retirement in 2017.

Family was the cornerstone of Jim's life. He was a devoted husband to Barbara, his wife of 45 years. Together, they created a blended family, that included eight children: Melissa (Travis), James Jr., Rai-Lin (Molly), Joy (Barry), Jay, Kristi, Laura (Peter), and Les. Jim's legacy lives on in his 13 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, who brought him immense joy and pride. With his brothers Larry, Bobby (Diana), Michael (Judy), and sister Patricia. His family was his greatest treasure, and he cherished every moment spent with them.

A man of many interests, Jim was an active member of the Sons of Italy, a club that held a special place in his heart. His passion for BBQ led him to participate as a judge in numerous competitions, where he shared his culinary insights and enjoyed the camaraderie of fellow enthusiasts.

Jim was proceeded in death by his parents, Manuel and Anita, his son, Les Ecker, and his granddaughter, Ashley Volz. His memory will forever remain in the hearts of his surviving family, countless friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Funeral Services for Jim will be held on June 22, 2026, at 12:00 PM at Green Valley Mortuary, located at 3004 Alexandrite Drive, Rescue, CA 95672. Friends and family are invited to join in honoring a life well-lived and to share in the stories and memories that made Jim so special to all who knew him.

Jim Silveira's life was one of love, service, and was full of lots of family and friends. While his physical presence will be dearly missed, his spirit and legacy will continue to inspire and guide us. May he rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the love that he so generously gave to others.
