Jane Simonsen Stanley, a resident of Rescue, California, passed away Monday, June 15, 2015 in Roseville, California after a courageous two year struggle with cancer. She was born to Chris Simonsen and Bernice Pearson Simonsen on March 9, 1946 in Astoria, Oregon, the second of three daughters. The family resided in nearby Knappa, Oregon and Jane graduated from Knappa High School and attended Clatsop College. She began a 15 year career with Chrysler Corp in Portland and soon transferred to the San Francisco office to enjoy the wonderful California sunshine. She subsequently worked in interior design, banking, and finally as the director of the San Mateo County/Redwood City Chamber of Commerce Leadership program for many years. In 2001 Jane and her husband Jack relocated to Rescue where she resided until her passing. Jane enjoyed water skiing until her knee sidelined her at age 67, and is known to have worn out several boats. She and Jack spent many happy hours touring in their motor home, and she was a member of the El Dorado County Food Preservers, two RV clubs, and the Cameron Park Corvette Club. She is survived by two sisters, Betty Paronen (Carl), Susan Aberle (Steve), her husband Jack as well as her two, much loved, Mini-Schnauzers, Joey and Jessie. There will be a memorial service Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at the Green Valley Mortuary, 3004 Alexandrite Dr., Rescue, CA 95672. Donations may be made to charity of choice.
