Jason Terwilliger Obituary (1978

Jason Terwilliger, husband, uncle, son, brother, friend and proud US Navy veteran passed away on July 6, 2025 in Cameron Park, CA. Jason was born on October 7, 1978 at the US Army Hospital in Nuremburg, Germany and grew up in Grass Valley, CA. Jason began his decorated military career with the US Navy in 2000 and spent four years aboard the USS Nimitz as a Machinery Repairman (MR). He followed this up by being selected as a Navy Recruiter in California. After transitioning to the Navy Reserve force, Jason deployed overseas to the Middle East in support of Operation Noble Eagle/ Enduring Iraqi Freedom from April 2011 to May 2012. His efforts contributed to the successful withdraw of US led coalition forces from Iraq and resulted in his selection as the Unit’s top senior Sailor. During his career, Jason was awarded the Army Achievement Medal, Naval Reserve Meritorious Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal with “M” Device, the Battle “E” Ribbon, four Meritorious Unit Commendation Gold Wreaths, the National Defense Service Medal, two Sea Service Deployment Ribbons, an Overseas Service Ribbon, and a Recruiting Service Ribbon. Jason was decorated as an Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist (ESWS) and Seabee Combat Warfare Specialist (SCWS). Jason retired from the US Navy in 2020 at the honored rank of Chief Petty Officer. After his military career Jason served as a Correctional Officer for the California State Prison System. He is survived by his wife, Kristen Terwilliger, niece, Shelby Chapman, sister Jaime Terwilliger, mother Susan Cooper, as well as his extended family and many close friends and colleagues. Services will be held at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon, CA at a date to be determined later. Details about a memorial will be coming soon.
