It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Joel F. Rogers on January 11th, 2026. Born on 02/14/1959 in Modesto, CA, Joel graduated from Los Gatos High School and resided in the Bay Area before eventually making his home in Cameron Park in 1987. It was there that he met his wife Kathy, and together they built a life of more than 30 years filled with devotion, laughter, and shared faith.
Joel will be remembered for his quick sense of humor and the way he could fill a room with laughter. He had a gift for making Kathy laugh, and that joy remained a constant throughout their years together. A man of deep faith, he spent many hours reading and rereading the Bible, always looking for new meaning and perspective in its pages. He approached life with perseverance and a quiet determination, enduring years of chronic back pain while continuing to show up for the people and routines he loved.
He had a gift for conversation and connection in the everyday moments of life. Whether picking up his wife from work and chatting with the night shift staff, talking over the fence with neighbors about life and faith, or visiting with familiar faces at Cameron Park Automotive and Safeway, he was known for his friendliness and humor. Often seen in his Packers hat and driving a car with a Raiders wheel cover, he became something of a local character, happily discussing football with anyone who stopped to talk. Even the neighborhood postal carrier joked that he could never quite make up his mind. These simple moments meant a great deal to him, and his warmth and easy conversation left a lasting impression on many in the Cameron Park community.
He was also a talented photographer with an eye for capturing moments, and he found simple pleasures in his favorite television programs—especially historical and mystery shows like The Curse of Oak Island, which he followed faithfully and with great enthusiasm. Whether sharing a joke, offering a familiar greeting, or settling in with a show and good conversation, Joel created small but lasting memories with those around him.
Joel is preceded in death by his parents James and Dorothy Rogers and is survived by his wife, Kathy Rogers, his five brothers and a sister, along with their spouses and children; his daughter, Tiffeney; his son, Jerry; his stepchildren Tracy, Patty, Lori, Buddy and their spouses; and many grandchildren who will carry forward memories of his humor, faith, and jovial presence.
Memorial services will be held at Green Valley Mortuary on Friday, February 27, at 11:00 a.m.
He will be remembered for his faith, his resilience, and the laughter he shared so freely. In the words he often used, he kept on keepin’ on — and he will be deeply missed.
