John Roger Gendreau (June 15, 1944 - July 26, 2024) John Roger Gendreau, the youngest of ten siblings, was born in Hayward, CA, and passed away in Placerville, CA, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s. He was 80 years old. John is survived by his devoted wife of 60 years, Donna Gendreau; his children, JR Gendreau and Michelle Ronning (Gendreau); his grandchildren, Tyler Blakeley-Gendreau, Brooke Gendreau, Shelby Gendreau, Patton Ronning, Bridget Gendreau, and Madison Ronning; his sister, LaVonne Cunningham (Gendreau); and his best friend of over 70 years, John Severini, whom he regarded as a brother. John spent his formative years in the San Francisco Bay Area, where he raised his family and built a prosperous career as a sales manager for Coors Distributing in Hayward, CA. Despite abstaining from alcohol, John excelled in this role, driven by his passion for meeting new people and forging lasting relationships. His charisma and unwavering dedication made him a beloved figure in the industry, respected by colleagues and clients alike. In 2003, John relocated to Shingle Springs, CA, nestled in the picturesque Sierra Foothills. There, alongside his son JR, he designed, constructed, and operated El Dorado County's first full-service carwash, Express Shine Carwash and Oil Change. John's entrepreneurial spirit and relentless work ethic transformed this venture into a community landmark. He actively participated in the Cameron Park Chamber of Commerce and numerous community fundraising events, demonstrating his commitment to civic engagement. His sales acumen and affable personality helped him cultivate a loyal customer base exceeding 60,000, including prominent corporate accounts such as the Sacramento Regional Hertz Rental Car businesses. John was a lifelong advocate for fitness and health. In his 30s, 40s, and 50s, he was an avid runner. In later years, he remained dedicated to fitness by walking five miles daily and completing 200 push-ups every day until the age of 79. His steadfast commitment to staying active served as an inspiration to those around him, exemplifying his determination and resilience. John proudly served his country as a Radar Technician in the United States Army during the Vietnam War era, working on Hawk Missile Guidance Systems. His service was characterized by dedication and excellence, embodying the values of discipline and honor throughout his life. The greatest source of joy and pride in John’s life was his beloved wife, Donna. Their 60-year marriage stood as a testament to their profound love and unwavering commitment to each other. John frequently spoke of Donna with deep admiration and gratitude, cherishing the countless memories they shared. Their partnership was the cornerstone of his life, providing strength and happiness through every challenge and triumph. John will be interred, at a future date to be determined, in a columbarium at Saint Patrick’s Church in Incline Village, NV, overlooking the breathtaking blue waters of Lake Tahoe. He chose this spot as his final resting place to remain alongside his best friend and brother, John Severini. This choice reflects the eternal bond, profound connection, and unwavering loyalty that defined their relationship. John Gendreau's life was a testament to his dedication, love for his family, and commitment to his community. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his legacy of kindness, hard work, and unwavering friendship will endure in the hearts of those he touched.
