Kenneth Duane Smeltzer passed away on October 2, 2017 in South Jordan, Utah at the age of 82. Ken was born October 1, 1935 in Fresno, California to Theodore Smeltzer and Jacomina Gerritsen. He was raised in Fresno and attended Roosevelt High School. He served in the Army in Germany from 1954 to 1957. Ken received bachelor's degrees in mathematics and in electrical engineering from Fresno State College and a law degree from LaSalle University. He married Carolyn Williams in 1957 in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They raised four children and lived in California, Illinois, New Jersey and Oregon. Ken and Carol served an LDS mission together in the England Birmingham Mission from 1997-1999. Ken loved to travel, read and spend time with his grandchildren. Ken is survived by his wife, Carolyn; his children, Cathy Lewis (Bob), Hal (Dee Dee), Kevyn (Audrey), Bryn (Terri); brothers, Jim (Terry) and Kelsey (Sue); sister, Kathy Cole (Wes); 9 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren. The viewing will be held on Saturday, Oct. 14, 2017 from 9-10 am and funeral from 10-11 am at the LDS Chapel 89 Scholar Way Folsom, California. Interment will be at Green Valley Cemetery 3004 Alexandrite Dr., Rescue, California.
