Clementine Lee Schurman, 92, lovingly known to all as Lee, died on September 20, 2011, in Placerville. Lee was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, on June 18, 1919, to Clement Lee and Helen Egan Lacy. She graduated from St. Agnes Academy in 1936 and Sanderson Business College the following year. She married Edward William Schurman in 1941. They lived in Indiana with their four children until 1962 when they moved to Sacramento. Lee was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ed, after 54 years of marriage, and her dear sister, Helen Martz. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Helen Fischer (Jerry), and three sons, Peter (Dawn), Stephen, and Daniel (Molly Matheson), eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, her niece, Rosemary Cooley (Gary), and many friends. Lee was a wonderful mother, always involved with all her children's activities and fondly remembered by their friends. Besides her family, her greatest joy was using her beautiful singing voice to make music. She was a member of the church choir wherever she lived, the Foothill Women's Chorus, and the one that meant the most to her,the Camellia City Chorus of the Sweet Adelines. She and Ed loved the Sacramento Jazz Jubilee and followed several favorite bands, especially High Sierra. She was a member of the Loyola Guild, All Saints Mr. and Mrs. Club, Placerville Shakespeare Club, served as a literacy tutor, and made friends wherever she went. Friends are invited to share their memories of Lee on two occasions. A visitation and prayer service will be held on Thursday, September 29, at 7 p.m., at Green Valley Mortuary, at the corner of Green Valley and Bass Lake Roads in Rescue. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, September 30, at Holy Trinity Church, 3100 Tierra de Dios Drive, El Dorado Hills, at 10 a.m. Reception to follow in the parish Social Center.
