Lee Robert Walker, age 79 of Shingle Springs, CA

Lee Walker passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of October 31, 2025, in his home that he constructed in Shingle Springs. Born on August 31, 1946, in Phoenix, Arizona, he was the son of Jack Walker and Pauline Walker and brother to William Walker, Jack Walker, Jr., James Walker and Don Walker.

He was a loving husband to Jacqueline Walker for 57 years and a devoted father to Chandra Wells and Kara Lormand. He will be remembered for his dogged determination, loyalty and pride in service to his country as a Marine and Vietnam Veteran.

Lee Walker started life in rural Arizona where his family had a dairy farm. They later moved to California where he graduated from high school, started college and began his CA state service career. Knowing he was to be drafted, he instead joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1966 and served as an aerial navigator assigned to his squadron at El Toro, CA on KC-130F aircraft for flights over the Pacific Ocean. In 1968 he married his wife, Jackie and also received a 14-month overseas assignment to DaNang, Vietnam and Okinawa. He achieved the rank of Sergeant and was recognized for his gallantry above and beyond the call of duty with his receipt of 28 Air Medals, 2 Presidential Unit Citations, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Medal and Vietnam era campaign ribbons. Lee was honorably discharged in 1970 and later that year became a father with his first daughter. With a family to support he resumed his state service career and continued his education. With many long years of night school, he ultimately received a Certificate of Completion of Apprenticeship, Maintenance Electrician from the State of CA, an Associate in Arts from Santa Ana College and a Certificate of Achievement from Orange Coast College in Air Conditioning and Stationary Engineering.

With his second daughter his family was complete, and he continued to serve the State of California for a total of 41 years. Lee retired as Assistant Chief of Construction Services Branch, Direct Construction Unit, in the Real Estate Services Division of the Department of General Services. Upon his retirement, he traveled with his wife, made property improvements and enjoyed his time with his family and especially his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, children, two sons-in-law, four grandchildren, three siblings, two brothers-in-law, two sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, brother Jack Jr., father-in-law, mother-in-law, three brothers-in-law and four sisters-in-law.
