A Kings County, CA native born Leona Mae Lewis January 30, 1921, seventh adult child of John Dedrick (1878-1929) & Jennie Joy (1882-1972), she was the 1939 Lemoore, CA High School Class President and amongst the first women to have been there. On February 22, 1941, Leona married her teenage sweetheart Onesimo, also a Kings County native she'd known since 1935, in Bellflower, CA. A Homemaker & Gardner well into her 80s Leona was employed by J.C. Penney Department Store & Texas Oil Company (TEXACO) during World War II, California Almond Growers in Sacramento, CA 1964-1974. She was a member of the Delta Gesneriad & African Violet Society, Stockton, CA member & three-time President of Capital City African Violet Society Sacramento, CA, member of the El Dorado Hills, CA Baptist Church, co-founder of Cameron Park, CA Chapel in 1980s, a Cub Scouts & Camp Fire Girls Den Mother she was active with numerous other social organizations. A loving mother to one baby & four adult children, Leona had one granddaughter & three great-grandsons; she is survived by her eldest daughter Janet, twins Richard & Rebecca, youngest son William (1955-2016).
