Lloyd Laverne Reiser of Folsom, California, passed away peacefully on November 29, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was 86 years old. | Early Life and Background | Born in Sioux City, Iowa, in 1938 to the late Lloyd Milton and Gladys Alma Reiser, Lloyd was the middle of three children. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Phyllis. From an early age, Lloyd showed a remarkable curiosity about the world around him, a trait that would define his entire life. Lloyd's academic path was marked by curiosity and intellectual pursuit. He spent time at the College of William and Mary, where his love for music flourished as he played trumpet in the college band. In 1967, he graduated from George Washington University with an engineering degree, launching a career defined by innovation and problem-solving. Lloyd was drafted into the Army in July of 1962 and after basic training he was sent to Fort Monmouth, New Jersey to do electrical engineering research and development. His father Lloyd Milton Reiser also served in the Army and his office was located across the street. He was later sent to Fort Huachuca Arizona. Due to an injury he was honorably discharged from the Army in 1964. |Passions and Interests| A man of remarkable versatility, Lloyd’s hobbies reflected his boundless creativity and intellectual curiosity. His home was a testament to his diverse interests: • A chess set always ready for a strategic match • Cameras capturing life's fleeting moments • Personal computers showcasing his love for technology • Model rocket kits waiting to be assembled Photography was more than a hobby; it was a way of preserving memories and seeing the world through a unique lens. His collection of images told stories of family, travel, and quiet moments of beauty. | Spiritual Journey | In his later years, Lloyd discovered a profound passion for holistic healing, becoming a Reiki Master. His involvement with the Unity Church was more than a pastime – it was a genuine commitment to personal growth and community service. Colleagues and friends remembered his calming presence and spiritual wisdom. | Personal Joys | Walt Disney World held a special place in Lloyd’s heart. More than just an amusement park, it represented magic, imagination, and the joy of endless possibilities – qualities that Lloyd embodied throughout his life. | Family | Lloyd is survived by his brother, Fred Reiser, his five children – Deb Hursa, Greg Reiser, Suzanne Sutton, Caryn Hutchison, and Gabriel Reiser - seven grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter. His family remembers him as a loving father, grandfather, and friend who always had time for a story, a game of chess, or a discussion about the latest technological marvel. | Memorial Service | A celebration of Lloyd’s life will be held at 10:00am on January 10, 2025, at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 5811 Walnut Avenue, Orangevale, California.
