Lois Carol Mitchell

Lois was diagnosed in October 2014 with Stage IV Lymphoma and on December 18, 2014, she passed away quietly in her home, surrounded by her three little dogs. Lois Mitchell is the baby of eight children born to William and Viola Cosby, and she is the only one of her siblings born in California. She attended Jefferson High School in Daly City, California. Lois worked at Wadsworth Publishing Company for more than 30 years as a Keypunch Operator. A very strong and independent woman, she raised her eldest daughter, Tanya, as a single mother after a brief marriage to Jack Cain. It was at Wadsworth where she met and subsequently married William Kennedy Mitchell on March 17, 1984. This happy union brought about her second daughter, Andrea Cherice Mitchell, on December 15, 1984. After many adventures together, including heading into early retirement and buying their mountain retreat in Grizzly Flats, California, Lois lost Bill on October 8, 2005 due to complications from Hepatitis C. It was after the loss of her husband that she joined the Newcomer's group and found a wonderful support group of friends to play Bunco, Phase 10 and Canasta with, as well as attend events and travel. In October 2013, she went on a trip with her friends to visit the New England states and view the scenic autumn foliage. She is survived by her daughters, Tanya Cain and Andrea Mitchell. A memorial service will be held for Lois Mitchell on Friday, March 13, 2015 at 1:00 PM at the Green Valley Community Church located at 3500 Missouri Flat Road, Placerville, CA 95667.
