Marilyn "Lynn" Joyce Haven died on Jan. 7, 2022 in Rancho Cordova, surrounded by loving family. She was 88. Born Aug. 10, 1933 in Deadwood, SD, Lynn's family founded James Motors in North Sacramento, the first Volkswagen dealership in California. Lynn's mother was an original "Rosie the Riveter" at Mare Island Shipyard during World War II. Lynn graduated from San Juan High School in 1951 where she met her future husband Delden "Del" Haven. They wed on Sept. 19, 1953 in Sacramento and were married for 69 years. The couple moved to El Dorado Hills in 1964, where they had purchased the 76 Union gas station. The Havens were active in community life for the next half-century. Lynn found her calling as a homemaker, mother, church leader, counselor, and world traveler. She was active in the PTA and community organizations. She served as Dean of Students for Trinity School of the Bible (now Epic College), co-founded Alabaster Box Ministries, attained a Stephen Ministry credential, attended Oral Roberts University and led many Bible studies, including at the California State Capitol. Travels took the Havens to the United Kingdom and Europe and on African safari. They walked on the Great Wall of China and traveled to Russia to teach English to students. Two mission trips to Kenya followed. They explored back roads of New England, bright lights of New York City, and tranquil Mammoth Lake. They discovered a small town in Florida called "Lynn Haven" among other travel quests. Family members recalled Lynn's love of Scottish Terriers, her little red sports car, excitement to always be "on the go" and love of a trip to Starbucks. Lynn was preceded in death by her husband, who died on April 16, 2021. She is survived by two sons Curt Haven (Marjorie) of Gold River and Brad Haven (Teri) of Merced; daughter Mickey Haven-Porter (Paul Porter) of Bodega Bay; nine grandchildren, Alicia Evangelista, Andrea Haven, Matthew Haven, Robyn Kopp, Derek Kopp, BJ Haven, Jed Haven, Sunshine Haven and Abraham Haven; and eight great-grandchildren, Kaleb Evangelista, Elias Arthur, Joslynn Arthur, Davis Haven, Romy Haven, Winston Haven, Roman Haven, Callen Haven and Charlie Haven.
