Marjorie Moncur Olson, age 96, passed quietly from this earth on September 21, 2021 at her home in El Dorado Hills, California. She was born on January 14, 1925 in Brownsville, Texas to Alfonso and LaPriel (Cutler) Moncur. Marge spent her early years traveling with her family between Brownsville, Texas, where her parents were school teachers, and Lovell, Wyoming where they had a ranch. Marge went to 2 years of college at BYU and the University of Utah, where she met her future husband, Don Alvin Olson. They were married June 7, 1943 in the LDS Salt Lake Temple. She and Don are the parents of 6 daughters: Cheryln Hart (Thomas Hart), Lafayette, CA; Cathie Martin (Mort Martin), El Dorado Hills, CA; Connie Washburn (Whitney Washburn), El Dorado Hills, CA; Cristie Robarge (Jeff Robarge), El Dorado Hills, CA; Cydney Van Duker (Douglas Van Duker), Syracruse, UT; Carolee Daynes (Douglas Daynes), El Dorado Hills, CA. She has 27 grandchildren, 79 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. Don and Marge worked side by side for several decades in Don's various businesses, lived in several states and moved more than 2 dozen times. Marge encouraged all of her daughters to pursue their love of music and the arts by taking piano, string and dance lessons. Marge was always supportive of their performances and sewed costumes by the dozen for their dance recitals. She attended hundreds of recitals, concerts, and plays. Marge loved to sew. She stayed active by swimming, dancing, water skiing, snow skiing, and later on started watercolor painting. She and Don also took flying lessons. She is survived by her sister June Waite and her brother Kent. Funeral services will be held at the Green Valley Mortuary, at the corner of Green Valley and Bass Lake Roads in Rescue, CA, at 11:00 AM on Monday, October, 4, 2021. The viewing will begin at 9:30 AM. Interment will also be at Green Valley.
