Mary Frances (Fran) Meyer went home to be with the Lord on May 16, 2015. Known to her friends as Fran, she was born in Middletown, Ohio to parents Elsberry Stacy and Goldie (Yarber) Stacy. Fran was orphaned at a very early age and was raised by her paternal grandparents. After completing 11th grade at Middletown High School, she attended Skinner's Secretarial School for 9 months before joining the Women's Army Corp on Oct 9, 1944. While serving her country in Meridian, Mississippi, she met and married her husband, Shirley Edward (Lee) Meyer, who was stationed there in the Army Air Corp. They celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary before Lee's death in 2010. Upon receiving their honorable discharges the couple moved to California where Lee worked for Del Monte Corporation. Fran first worked for Food Machinery Corporation in San Jose and then in April 1959, she started working for Caltrans in Yuba City after Lee received a promotional opportunity there. She retired from Caltrans in 1985 after over 26 years of service. Due to Lee's job assignments, Fran worked in Caltrans offices in Yuba City, San Leandro, the Caldecott Tunnel in Oakland, Placerville and finally retired while in Sacramento. Fran was preceded in death by her loving husband, Shirley Edward Meyer and her brother William Stacy. She is survived by her sons Edward Paul Meyer of Garden Valley, California and Barry William Meyer and his wife Cherie Meyer of Santa Rosa, California, grandson Kornell Meyer and his wife Missy Meyer, granddaughter Gillian Meyer, as well as great granddaughters Lailah Meyer, Kaia Meyer and Isla Meyer. Fran loved gardening, dogs, travel, especially to Hawaii and spending time with her family. A short graveside memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 23 at Green Valley Mortuary and Cemetery, Green Valley and Bass Lake Roads, Cameron Park, California. Memorials are requested to be given to Mt. Olive Lutheran Church 320 Montrose Drive, Folsom, CA 95630 in lieu of flowers.
