Mehdi Michael Shariff April 4th, 1952 - January 14th 2017 Mehdi Michael Shariff, 64, of Garden Valley, CA, passed away on January 14th 2017. He was born in Tehran, Iran on April 4th, 1952 to Aghdas Jadidi and Mohammed Shariati. Mike came to the US in 1971 where he worked his way through college earning a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from The Catholic University of America. After graduating, he returned to Iran to work in a nuclear power plant in Shomal, near the Caspian Sea. With humble means and a determined spirit, Mike returned to the U.S. permanently in 1981 to build a successful career in technology, have a loving family and live a rewarding life. Mike was a life learner and outdoorsman, enjoying hiking, kayaking, and flying after earning his private pilot's license at the age of 59. Mike fought a long and courageous battle against prostate cancer while remaining strong for others, cherishing life to its fullest potential and surrounding himself in his final days by people he loved in places that brought him peace. Mike is survived by his wife Diane Trompeter Shariff; his daughters Goli (Paul) Cobbe of Danville and Melody Shariff of Berkeley and their mother Mehri Assadi; 5 grandchildren Alexandra (14), Rachel (12), Jayden (7), Jace (5) and Ryan (2), and sisters Guity (Khosro) Ghargozaloo of Tucson, AZ and Shahin Shariati of Toronto, Canada; and brother Ross (Shahin) Shariati of Washington D.C.
