Dr. Michael Dean Weideman

–

Rescue, California

Michael “Mike” Dean Weideman, a beloved family man who devoted his life to caring for children and families in our community, passed away on September 24, 2026, leaving behind a legacy defined by kindness and laughter. Born on August 1, 1943, in Beatrice, Nebraska, to Oliver and Marion Weideman, Mike’s journey was one of service, dedication, and deep love for his family.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 64 years, Roxanne “Roxie” Kay Weideman (Oberle), and their three children, Cynthia, Mark, and Matthew. As a proud grandfather to eight and with his first great-grandchild on the way, his family remained the cornerstone of his life.

Mike and Roxie, high school sweethearts, built a beautiful life together, marrying in 1962. After three years of undergraduate studies at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, Mike was accepted into the School of Dentistry and pursued his dream of becoming a dentist. He earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery in 1968, then answered the call of duty, serving as a Captain in the US Air Force during the Vietnam War. Following his service, he furthered his expertise, earning his specialty degree in Pediatric Dentistry at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in 1974.

Settling in Sacramento, California, Mike and Roxie established Weideman Pediatric Dentistry and he was the first formally trained and licensed pediatric dental specialist in the Sacramento area. Fondly known as “Dr. Mike,” he was cherished by his patients and widely recognized for his community leadership. Beyond his practice, he found joy as an avid painter, a dedicated dog lover, and a gifted, prolific storyteller. His favorite place in the world was Kaanapali Beach, Maui. He will be deeply missed for his gregarious personality, his contagious laughter, and the warmth he extended to everyone he met
