Myrtle was born May 19, 1909 to Hans and Ingeborg Braaten in Edmore North Dakota. She was one of eight children. Myrtle graduated from Edmore High School and went on to a business college in Bismark. She later worked in a clerical position there. In 1938 she entered a statewide beauty contest and later became Miss North Dakota and went on to receive a trip to New Orleans. She married Arthur Foster in 1938. Myrtle and Arthur moved to California and the bay area where she worked in the shipyards during world war 11. Myrtle had one son, Robert. She went on to work seasonally in Felice and Perellie Cannery until her retirement. Myrtle's husband Arthur died in 1959 and she spent the next two decades living in Richmond California where she financed her son Robert through art school. She remarried in 1977 to Bill Ramsey and they lived in Richmond until Bill's death in 1989. A few years later she moved in with her son and his wife in Placerville California where she spent the next nine years of her life. She was a wonderful Mother and human being and loved by all. We will miss her in this world. May God bless and keep her. Graveside funeral serices will be held Wednesday Feb 22 at Sunset View Cemetery in El Cerrito California 11 am.
