Rescue, California
Bob and his twin sister, Roberta, were born in San Francisco, CA on 9/9/25. At age 19, Bob entered the military and was stationed in San Francisco, then Camp Pendleton with his Marine Regiment and served as a medic on Iwo Jima, where he was wounded and for which he received the Purple Heart. After leaving the Marines, Bob worked for the Sacramento County Fire Department and retired after 20 years. Bob has lived in Placerville for the last 40 years. After moving to Placerville Bob became friends with Bill W. and was sober for 40 years. This changed his life and he became a counselor for the El Dorado Council on Alcoholism. This was much more than "a job" and Bob gave of himself completely to support his clients and bring about change in their lives. Anyone who knew him, knew he cared. After his retirement from EDCA he went to work for the City of Placerville as a tour guide for Gold Bug Mine. Bob never seemed to be willing to actually retire and continued working at the Gold Bug Mine until December 2012. Fishing, camping and golf were among the activities he enjoyed. Bob also enjoyed opera and playing cribbage. He loved to sail and Morro Bay was one of his favorite destinations. Contributions in Bob's name may be made to Partners in Care, P.O. Box 845, Placerville, CA 95667 or www.partnersincareplacerville.org.
