Robert H, Miller III was born January 7, 1945 in Richmond CA. On August 9, 2011 he lost a courageous 11 year battle with prostate cancer at his home in Folsom. Robert (Bob) Miller leaves his wife of 43 years, Candy (Wellbrock) Miller and their dog Dusty, brother Gene Arrington, nieces Joni D'Antonio, Jeanne Clark, Patty Meden, Carol Polson and Connie Lysher, nephew Chris Lysher, great niece Gina, and great nephews Vince and Alec. He is predeceased by his father Robert, his mother Maurine and sisters Joan and Wilma. Bob graduated from Harry Ells High School in Richmond, CA in 1962, where he played football and ran track. He graduated from Golden Gate University. He enlisted in the US Air Force and served his country in Korea. He spent 31 years at IBM in San Francisco and Sacramento. Upon his retirement from IBM, he was employed by IBS in Folsom, until he accepted the position of Senior VP and CFO of the Folsom Economic Development Corporation. Bob was a licensed pilot and loved taking his friends flying. He was an avid fly fisherman and looked forward to the annual Proctor Fishing Group trip to Idaho. Bob and Candy very much enjoyed spending time at their cabin in Twain Harte. Bob spent childhood summers there with grandmother Evelyn and grandfather, Robert, former Council Member and Mayor of Richmond. A third generation Rotarian, Bob served as president of the Rotary Club of Folsom 1997 - 1998 and served many years as a Board Member for both the Rotary Club and the Folsom Rotary Foundation . The Rotary Club House in Folsom was rededicated in his honor in May, 2011. He was a six time Rotary Paul Harris Fellow. He was a founder and Board Member for Folsom Lake Bank and previously served on the Board of Directors of the Bank of Lodi, the West Contra Costa YMCA and the Twain Harte Lake Association. Bob enjoyed spending time with his wine tasting friends, the Wandering Winos. He and Candy also enjoyed many memorable cruises and train trips together. Bob was loved by countless people. He inadvertently, but graciously, served as a mentor to many friends, colleagues, nieces, children of friends and fellow Rotarians. He was the consummate gentleman, in every sense of the word. Bob touched more lives than he could ever have imagined and in more significant ways than he ever understood. The world was a better place with Bob Miller in it - his influence on his friends, family and colleagues will live on with his memory. Candy would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Kotak, Mayria and the nursing staff at the Kaiser Roseville Oncology department for their loving care.
