Robert Thompson

Rescue, California

Robert Felton Thompson, 91, found peace the morning of March 8th, following a courageous battle with heart disease and Lupus.

Born on June 5th, 1934 in Oakland, CA, Robert (Bob) was the son of Robert and Bernadette Petri Thompson. He was blessed with four sisters and was affectionately known as Sonny in the family. He is survived by two of them, Genevieve and Joan. Additionally, Bob leaves behind three devoted children (Bob Thompson, Katie Simonitsch, and David Thompson),their spouses, seven grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

Bob spent most of his career working for the State of California, first with ABC and then as a Senior Special Investigator with DMV. After hours, he worked his sixteen acre almond ranch. Retirement resulted in a move from Lodi, CA to Pollock Pines, CA and then to El Dorado Hills.

Beyond his professional life, Bob was a devout Catholic, a prolific reader, an avid SF Giants fan, and a loyal 49ers enthusiast. His greatest joy, however, was rooted in his family, most notably in his predeceased wife, Jeanette. His fondest memories were of the time spent with them, whether it was coaching baseball in the early years or being the biggest fan in the latter ones. Bob took great joy in his family, advocated for “being good,” and held firm in his conviction that grandchildren and great-grandchildren were perfect.

His family will miss his love and devotion, but each will carry the effects of it forever.
