Rodger Keith Bennett, 70, passed away peacefully at home on November 2, 2025, with his loving wife, Diane Bennett, by his side. Born in Castro Valley, CA, on January 14, 1955, Rodger led a life full of hard work, adventure, and the joy of being surrounded by family.

Rodger had an infectious personality and could always get others to laugh, whether through a witty remark or a well-timed joke. His laughter was a gift that brightened any room, and his sense of humor was one of the many things that made him so beloved by those around him. In his younger years, Rodger was known for his wild side, always ready for an adventure and never one to back down from a good time.
Rodger was a devoted father to Denise Veffredo (husband Timothy Veffredo) and Donald Bennett II (wife Paula Bennett). He was a proud grandfather to six grandchildren: Abby King, Isabella Veffredo, Daphne Arnold, Mitchell Veffredo, Cora Bennett, and Violet Bennett, as well as a great-grandfather to three: Kye King, Isla King, and Bodie Arnold. He is also survived by his brother, Michael Bennett (wife Miriam), and many cherished extended family members and friends.

Rodger was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Barbara Bennett; his brothers, Robert and Mark Bennett; and his sister, Sherie Marino.

For 25 years, Rodger worked as a laborer with the Laborers Union #185, starting right out of high school, proudly contributing his skills and dedication to numerous projects throughout the state. Outside of his work, Rodger found peace in the great outdoors, enjoying hunting, fishing, and camping with his family. He was also known for his competitive spirit in a good game of cribbage. He was a man who valued hard work, loyalty, and the simple pleasures in life. Rodger was not a quitter and proved it until the very end, facing each challenge with pure grit.

A Celebration of Life will be held on November 22, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. at the Pleasant Valley Grange, 4765 Pleasant Valley Grange Rd., Placerville, CA 95667.

Rodger’s memory will live on through his family legacy and all who were touched by his wit, spirit, and love for his family.
