Rodney Hauge

Rescue, California

Rodney B. Hauge, age 68 years old, unexpectedly joined his beloved parents, Howard
and Joan Hauge, in Heavenly rest on Thursday, October 30, 2025. Rodney was born in
Ritzville, Washington, but spent the majority of his life in Sacramento, California. He
graduated from Hiram Johnson High School.
Rodney faced many challenges in life due to being born oxygen deprived at birth. This
did not stop him from living a full life and having a wonderful childhood. He loved sports
and enjoyed playing baseball with Fruitridge Little League. He played basketball with
people with similar capabilities and even traveled to Hawaii for a tournament. He was
an avid San Francisco Giants and 49ers fan (a requirement in our house growing up).
For college football, he loved following the Clemson Tigers. His favorite pastime,
though, was fishing with our Dad, family and friends. He even owned his own small
boat and trailer for a short time. He loved to walk our street and visit with neighbors and
friends. Although he couldn’t drive, he loved to wash our Mom’s car and then pull it up
in the driveway (there is still a dent in the garage door where he didn’t quite stop in
time). He loved McDonalds’ Quarter Pounders and Fries, and it was the traditional
Christmas Eve dinner in our house for decades after McDonalds opened up nearby.
Rodney seemed happiest when he was surrounded by our big, loving family. There
were regular family reunions in Washington State, but he also loved traveling to South
Carolina to see family there. He loved being a cherished son, grandson, brother,
nephew, cousin, Uncle and great-Uncle.
In April 2024, due to health issues, he moved to El Dorado Hills, California where his
sister became his fulltime primary caregiver until July 2025. At that time he moved into
his ‘bachelor pad’ at The Pavilion of El Dorado Hills due to increased care needs. It was
there that he left us unexpectedly, and while we are deeply saddened by this loss, we
know he is now happy, healthy and whole again.
Rodney is survived by his sister, Deborah Childs (Ronald), his beloved nephews,
Michael and Brian, loving nieces, Kimberly and Krystal, and four cherished great-
nephews. Rodney was preceded in death by his much loved parents, grandparents,
aunts, uncles and two cousins. Rodney, we will think of you fondly whenever we see
the golden arches, and knowing you are now walking on streets of gold. God bless you.
