Rosie Blomsterberg

–

Cameron Park, California

Rosalind "Rosie" Eileen Blomsterberg (McCutcheon) of Cameron Park, California, passed away on July 2nd, 2025 after a couragous battle with breast cancer.

Rosie was born on April 15, 1954 to Dorothy and Wilfred McCutcheon in Tucson, Arizona. She was welcomed into a large Catholic family, as the eighth of ten children. Rosie spent her childhood in Arizona, but just prior to high school the family moved to Southern California. Rosie graduated from Fountain Valley High School in 1972, and went on to get her Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from California State University, Long Beach. Rosie then started her career as a juvenile probation officer in Long Beach, California, but switched careers upon moving to Incline Village, Nevada in 1978. There she worked as a residential real estate broker for a number of years before finally deciding to return to school in 1990 to complete a Master’s in Education from Chapman University, in Sacramento, CA, where the family had moved in the summer of 1989. Rosie then worked as a teacher, primarily in El Dorado County, until her retirement in the early 2000's, where she then turned her focus fully to philanthropic volunteer work.

In 1975, Rosie met Kenneth Nels Blomsterberg while working at La Fuente, a Mexican restaurant in Cypress, California. On September, 17th, 1977, Rosie and Ken married at Saint Irenaeus Catholic Church in Cypress, and Rosie became the step-mother to Ken's two boys, Michael and David, from his first marriage, and then they went on to have two of their own children, Michele and Kristin. Rosie was blessed with many grandchildren - Tiffany, Trevor, Brittany, Destiny, Zachary, Katharina, Katherine, Nathalia, and Liliah, as well as three great-grandchildren, Madison, Hunter and Delilah. Family meant everything to Rosie. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, and even in her final days took them to the movie theater and out to eat frozen yogurt. She loved to shop, and her grandchildren never wanted for anything; they knew they could always go to their "Grammy / Ammy / Nana".

Rosie and Ken had a rich life, experiencing living in such beautiful locations as Huntington Beach, CA, Hawaii, Lake Tahoe, NV, Cameron Park, CA and Reno, NV. Rosie and her family enjoyed traveling, and Rosie especially appreciated visiting Hawaii, Mexico, San Diego, Denmark and Spain. She also loved nature, and therefore loved to camp, hike and visit national parks. She was a great athlete in her youth playing such sports as softball, volleyball, racquetball and tennis. But softball was her favorite and she spent much of her adult years playing in both a women's and co-ed league. Further, she loved watching softball and baseball, and truly enjoyed cheering on the LA Dodgers and attending Reno Aces games, as well as her grandson's Little League games. She was a competitive person, who always gave her all to doing the best she could, in all endeavors. Rosie was a happy, positive and bright person - the life of the party - who loved holidays and special occasions, and always made sure to celebrate them fully. Rosie was also a lover of music, and enjoyed attending concerts, dancing, and collecting albums.

Rosie's true passion in life was helping the less fortunate, whether it was underprivileged people, people with injury or illness, or animals. Rosie spent most of her free time caring for others. She was dedicated to collecting needed items for the homeless in El Dorado County, and she organized a yearly project called, "Stockings for the Homeless". Further, she spent much of the year collecting and sorting items for underprivileged families in Mexico in conjunction with the Long Beach Fire Department. Finally, there was not one animal that Rosie would not stop to help if injured or in need. She loved all animals equally, and would do what she could to help their cause. She herself had many cats and a few dogs throughout her life, and they meant the world to her - she was truly "animals’ best friend."

Rosie was predeceased by her father and mother, Wilfred and Dorothy McCutcheon, her sisters, Mary Katherine Bugna and Michele McCutcheon, and her brother Wilfred "Steve" McCutcheon. She is survived by her husband, Ken, her daughters Michele and Kristin, her sons, Michael and David, her sisters, Dororthy Haas, Janice Nickerman, Barabara Hall, Loretta McHugh and Margaret Jones, and her brother John McCutcheon, as well as her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The viewing will be held on Thursday, July 17th from 4:00-6:00pm at Green Valley Mortuary in Rescue, CA with a rosary for the family at 6:00pm. Services will be held at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in El Dorado Hills, CA on Friday, July 18th at 11:30am, with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Animal Outreach of the Motherload, an organization that Rosie felt strongly about supporting. Rosie and Ken also donate regularly to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, Tunnel to Tower, the Child Abuse Prevention Center (Sacramento), Wounded Warriors, the Shriner's Hospital, and The Big Brothers and Big Sisters (Reno). The family would be grateful for donations in Rosie's name to any of these honorable organizations.
