Shahida Abdeali Jasdanwala (née Hathi), fondly known as “Shahu” and “Mama Shay Shay,” passed away peacefully, surrounded by love and family, on November 11, 2024, at the age of 63. Born in Balispur, India, on June 21, 1961, Shahida spent much of her life in Goa, Kerala, and Gujarat, India, before recently moving to the United States to be closer to her family. She is survived by her devoted husband, Abdeali Taherali Jasdanwala; her beloved children, Sarfaraz (and wife Andrea) and Fernaz (and husband William Morales); and her cherished grandchildren, Molly, Eva, Ethan, Ari, and Liam. Her family was her pride and joy, and she found immense fulfillment in raising her children and watching her grandchildren grow. A dedicated stay-at-home mother and wife, Shahida also spent a brief time as a primary school teacher, touching young lives with her warmth and kindness. Her life was enriched by simple pleasures: cooking, practicing yoga, enjoying brown sugar lattes from Starbucks, and browsing local farmers markets. She found joy in watching Pakistani serials on YouTube and delighted in any chance to gather with family. Known for her selflessness, Shahida was a loving mother, grandmother, and wife, who faced life’s challenges with unwavering strength and grace. She never complained, embodying resilience and dedication to those she loved most. The births of her children and meeting her grandchildren were among the most treasured moments of her life. A graveside funeral service will be held on Friday, November 15, at 1 p.m. at Lakeside Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Folsom, CA. Her family invites those who knew her to join in honoring her memory and celebrating the love and strength she brought to their lives.
