Stephen Francis Orlaski
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Stephen Francis (Steve) Orlaski, on April 8, 2026, at the age of 69.

Stephen was born in Missouri, to the late Francis J. and Elizabeth E. Orlaski. While Missouri was his birthplace, Steve spent the vast majority of his life living in both Southern and Northern California.

His early years were spent in Missouri and the Chicago area. He enjoyed Scouting and traveling with family during that time.
From his youth achievement as an Eagle Scout to leading memorable backpacking trips through the High Sierras, Steve was happiest when he was active and surrounded by nature.

Whether he was traveling to new destinations to complete visiting all 50 states, skiing down a mountain, golfing, fishing, or boating on the lake, his adventurous spirit will be deeply missed.

For 35 years, Steve was the proud owner and operator of a successful trucking business. He had an entrepreneurial spirit and a pride in building something of his own. As retirement
approached, Steve blended his work with his love for adventure—purposefully choosing
trucking destinations that allowed him to see his favorite spots (typically the south) and new areas to explore.

Stephen’s spirit of adventure led him to jump out of airplanes, zip line over massive canyons, hot air balloon rides, scuba diving, white water rafting and travel to Europe, Australia, Japan, the Caribbeans, Central America and more. He also had the ability to convince family and friends into joining him in these escapades. He earned the nickname “Huckleberry,” a tribute to his willingness to help anyone and everyone.

Steve is survived by his wife, Linda Michaels, who was a huge support and comfort for him. He also leaves behind three sisters, one brother, four nephews, two grandnieces, two
grandnephews, and Linda’s supportive family.
A celebration of Steve’s life will be held at a future date
