He was a cook on board of the USS Texas Battle Ship in the Asian Pacific Campaign. Walter met Mary Giebelhouse and married the love of his life on November 03 1951. They were married in Las Vegas Nevada and were married for 53 beautiful years. They had 3 children, Walter, Steve and Cathy who in return gave them 10 Grand Children and 1 Great Grand Child Walter was an Upholsterer for 30 years and had many hobbies. He was a Rock Hound and put many hours into his Lapidary. He love music and taught himself how to play many instruments like the Saxophone and the Clarinet. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting and dancing. He was always raising chickens, pigeons, California quail and pheasant in the back yard. Walter lost his lift to a Long Term Illiness at the age of 87. But only the last few months seemed to take its toll. Walter was at home under the care of his son Steve while the hospice nurse was there giving him a shave. He went peacefully. Walter will be remembered for his kindness and willingness to help his family and friends. He was creative building miniature chairs for his Grand Children and Precious Jewelry for the girls in the family. He loved helping the Grandsons with their fishing and hunting. He is especially known for his eating. The Grandkids thought that he would eat anything. If they saw something strange the grandkids would say "I bet PaPa would eat that" We want to give Special Thanks to Morris Wayne Uroff for all the support he gave this family and the way he improved the quality of dad's life. Walter will be truly missed by many.
